Greenwood, IN
A Center Grove High School freshman was detained by police on Wednesday after threats were discovered on Facebook, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.
Police were alerted when another person saw the post on Facebook. The 15-year-old boy reportedly posted expletives directed at the school, teachers and one teacher in particular. It was followed by a post that read, “Something bad is gonna happen tomorrow.”
The boy told police he had been in trouble in school that day for putting his head down on a desk. He said he wanted to make people think he would bring a gun or bomb to school, but that he didn’t intend to do anything.
Police took the boy to the detention center for 12 hours.
Another boy was interviewed because of a comment on the Facebook post about a gun, but the boy said he was joking and presumed the other boy was as well. He was released to his parents, but deputies detained a rifle from the home while the incident was being investigated.
