Crimes against Children 7-19-12 Part II

Bangor, MA
A former Maine college basketball star accused of having child pornography on his computer has been released on $1,000 bail and ordered to have no unsupervised contact with anyone under 16.

Wilson was indicted by a Penobscot County Grand Jury last month for possessing sexually explicit images of underage girls.

Authorities say there is no evidence local children were involved.

Lakeland, FL
Two Lakeland roommates were arrested Wednesday after child pornography was found on their computers, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

David Scheib, 42, who works for the U.S. Postal Service, faces 50 charges of child pornography. He was on felony probation for unauthorized computer access after a plea deal following his 2009 arrest on charges of possession of child pornography.

Michael E. Reynolds, 43, faces 11 charges of possession of child pornography.

Sheriff's detectives searched their house, at 4779 Elon Crescent, after receiving a report that Scheib might be downloading child pornography. Scheib was not home, but detectives made contact with Reynolds, the sheriff's office said.

Madison, WI

A town of Madison man was charged with 10 counts of possessing child pornography.

Matthew Pfendler was arrested on Friday after agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice searched his apartment on Pheasant Ridge Trail.

The Department of Justice said a hard drive inside Pfendler's home contained images consistent with child pornography. When asked by special agents if he had any child pornography on his computer, Pfendler stated that there probably was, according to the complaint.
Madison police worked with the DOJ after receiving a tip from the FBI.

Anchorage, AK
A 24-year-old Anchorage man has been charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

Alaska State Troopers say Cody Lichtenberg was arrested Thursday morning.

Troopers say members of their Technical Crimes Unit on March 17 discovered that a suspect was distributing dozens of child exploitation images on the internet. Officers later identified the suspect as Lichtenberg.

A law enforcement task force arrested at least 10 men Thursday for felony possession of child pornography in what San Jose police are calling the largest child porn sweep in Northern California history.
More than 165 detectives from 30 agencies, in collaboration with the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, executed nearly two dozen search warrants throughout Santa Clara County as part of “Operation Chickenhawk.”

Sgt. Jason Dwyer, spokesman for the San Jose Police Department, described the targets as a “cluster” of suspected child porn distributors and consumers. “We found 20 unrelated people and decided it would be a good use of resources… to knock them out in one day,” Dwyer said.

Detectives have been processing evidence obtained in Thursday’s searches, Dwyer said, and “if  we find even one image, anything, depicting child pornography, that person is going to go to jail. We’re finding a lot more images than that.”

Suffolk, VA

Suffolk police arrested Mark Tracy Baines Jr. of Gates, N.C., on child pornography charges on WednesdaySuffolk police arrested a 31-year-old North Carolina man on Wednesday for producing child pornography.

Mark Tracy Baines Jr. of Gates, N.C., was charged with the production, distribution and financing of child pornography and is currently being held without bond at Western Tidewater Regional Jail, according to a police news release.
