Ohio authorities say a new lab on wheels will help catch traders in child pornography and other online predators.
Cuyahoga
County Prosecutor Bill Mason introduced the mobile forensics lab on
Wednesday. Mason is chairman of Ohio's Internet Crimes Against Children
task force.
The mobile lab is the first of its
kind in the state. It will save time by eliminating the need for
agencies to transport computers, hard drives and other storage devices
to a permanent location for analysis.
With the
mobile lab on scene, investigators will be able to determine within
minutes of executing search warrants whether a suspect had downloaded or
traded child pornography on their computer or other electronic devices.
Madison County deputies have arrested a Japton business owner for allegedly producing child pornography.
Several parents
came forward to Madison County deputies and said Hanna had been engaging
in sexual misconduct with young children in the area, said Boyd.
Hanna
was producing
child pornography and there are at least three local
young
children who are
victims, Boyd told 40/29 News Wednesday morning.
New Haven, CT
A family doctor from Tolland has pleaded guilty to federal child pornography charges, admitting he used a file-sharing service to trade thousands of images and videos.
Dr. Carl Koplin pleaded guilty Wednesday to a single count of receipt of child pornography.
Prosecutors say investigators were able to download about 300 images and videos of child porn from an Internet directory traced to Koplin's computer. They say the FBI seized Koplin's desktop computer and other storage media in July, 2010, and found 800 gigabytes of child porn.
Medina, NY
A Medina firefighter has been arrested and charged with 7 felonies
after allegedly committing a
sex act with a
child under the age of 17
and possessing child
pornography.
Jeffrey
R. Elsenheimer, Jr., 31, of Medina, Orleans County, was charged with
criminal sexual act in the third degree, and three counts each of
possessing a
sexual performance by a
child and promoting a
sexual
performance by a
child, all of which are felonies. He was also charged
with official misconduct and endangering the
welfare of a
child.
Vincennes, IN
Indiana
State Police Special Investigations
Detective Chris Cecil initiated a
criminal investigation on August 21
st
after receiving information that 25-year-old
Anthony Gene Childers of
Vincennes, allegedly had
child pornographic images on a
computer he
pawned earlier in the year.
During
the course of the
investigation,
detectives from the Indiana
State
Police and Indiana
Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force
determined Childers had possessed hundreds of
images depicting
child
pornography on his
computer before pawning it at Piggy Banc Pawn Shop in
Vincennes.

Police and Knox County
Sheriff's
Department executed a search warrant at Childers residence located at
621 North 6
th Street, Apartment 2, in Vincennes.
During the execution of the search warrant,
investigators discovered an
active meth lab, a small amount of
meth and
numerous used
one-pot meth labs.
Troopers arrested Childers and his
girlfriend, 32-year-old
Jennifer Abel of Vincennes.
Coram, NY
Police
on Long Island say a
math teacher at a
junior high school has been
arrested on charges of possessing
child pornography and sharing it over
the
Internet.
Suffolk County
police say 34-year-old
Christopher Teague,
of Coram, was arrested Wednesday on charges of possessing a
sexual
performance by a
child and promoting a
sexual performance by a
child.
Police say Teague is employed as a
math teacher at
Longwood Junior High School in Middle Island.
A British man living in Rhode
Island who admitted downloading thousands of photographs and videos of
child pornography has been sentenced to five years in prison.
Paul
Hutchinson was sentenced Wednesday in the U.S. District Court in
Providence. The 29-year-old Barrington resident pleaded guilty in
January to possessing and receiving child pornography.
He was also ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release and to pay $3,800 to one victim.
Tulsa, OK
A
student at Tulsa's Union
High School has been arrested on a
child
pornography complaint after he allegedly posted a photo on
Twitter of
another
student using the
restroom.
Police say the
18-year-old student is accused of taking a picture of an
underage,
mentally disabled student in the
boys' bathroom. The
teen was arrested
Wednesday afternoon.
Tulsa television station KTUL reports that other students alerted
school officials about the photo on
Twitter.
The
18-year-old remains jailed without bond on a Peeping Tom complaint. He
was also arrested on complaints of manufacturing and distributing
child
pornography. He has not been formally charged.
A spokeswoman
for the
school declined to comment on the specifics of the case but says
officials take students'
safety and
dignity very seriously.
A Pennsylvania
man has been charged in Michigan with tricking people into sex acts over
Skype and then sending the images to others on Facebook.
Joseph Ostrowski already is under a separate indictment in Scranton, Pa., that accuses him of producing child pornography.
Federal
prosecutors say that crimes in East Lansing, Mich., and Pennsylvania
occurred last year while Ostrowski was a football coach at a Catholic
high school in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
