Crimes against Children 9-3-12

Auburn, AL
An Auburn, Ala., man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for possessing child pornography on a flash drive.

Douglas Burl "Chuck" Breland, 50, pleaded guilty to the charges in June.

In November 2010, officers with the Auburn Police Department found a flash drive in Breland's residence containing more than 2,000 images of "children being sexually abused and raped," prosecutors said. Authorities said the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children identified the victims in 2,186 of the images.

Court records show Breland also was ordered to pay $1,000 restitution to a victim who has gone by the pseudonym Vicky in many similar prosecutions, including at least one other federal case stemming from Lee County.

Central Islip, NY
A Long Island junior high school teacher used Skype and email to tell others where to find child porn, prosecutors said Thursday at his arraignment.

Math teacher Christopher Teague, 34, pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing a sexual performance by a child and promoting a sexual performance by a child.

Prosecutors said police had received information about child pornography being sent by email to Teague.

They said police seized Teague's home computer in Coram on Wednesday and found explicit photographs of children.

Australia
An Australian man living in the United States has been sentenced to three years in prison for possession of child pornography.

Christopher Mark King was arrested last year after IT specialists at the company he worked for found hundreds of hardcore images and videos of young children being abused on his computer and reported him to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

King, 55, will also serve 15 years on supervised release following completion of that term and pay a $3600 fine. The judge said he will have to register as a sex offender, but he might be deported after he serves his sentence.

At his plea hearing, King admitted to storing the images and videos on an external hard drive he used to back up files from the laptop provided by his company, KBR (formerly Kellogg Brown & Root).

Mulberry, FL
On August 14, Polk County Sheriff's deputies arrested Pablo Garcia-Sanchez, 24, after he reportedly drove to North Carolina to pick up a 15-year-old girl and brought her back to his home in Mulberry, Florida.

The two met on the social network site Facebook.

A search of Garcia-Sanchez's home turned up numerous nude photos of the girl as well as several videos of her performing various sex acts, according to the arrest report.

The Ledger reports that at the time of Garcia-Sanchez's arrest, the victim was approximately two weeks pregnant with the suspect's child.

Danbury, CT
A 48-year-old letter carrier at the post office on Main Street was arrested Thursday for allegedly downloading and sharing videos and images of child pornography.

Paul D'Ambrosio, of Waterbury, is free under electronic monitoring after appearing before a judge in Bridgeport. He is charged with receipt and distribution of child pornography, which caries a minimum of five years in prison and maximum of 20 years with a fine of $250,000.

On Aug. 8, a Hartford police detective in the state's computer crimes task force downloaded 50 image files and 10 videos of child pornography from shared directories, which D'Ambrosio is accused of maintaining, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Connecticut.
