A heroic Florida sixth grader stopped his school bus from plowing into a palm tree Tuesday after the driver had a heart attack and passed out, authorities said.
Jackson Bonar,
of Naples, was just two blocks from his home at around 6 p.m. Tuesday
when the driver, Robert Kelly, slumped over, the boy told the Naples Daily News. The boy was just a few feet from hitting a palm tree when Bonar jumped up, took the wheel and steered it out of trouble.
The bus eventually came to rest against a chain link fence.
A teacher from the boy's school, Oakridge Middle School, happened to drive by and helped the kids off the bus.
