A Utah sixth-grader, said he was told by his parents to bring a gun to school after the attack at Sandy Hook Elementary, was caught by teachers with an unloaded .22-caliber handgun.
The student, described as an 11-year-old boy, reportedly pulled the gun from his backpack during recess Monday at West Kearns Elementary School, located in a suburb of Salt Lake City.
A fellow sixth-grader said the boy pointed the gun at her head and said he was going to kill her.

Boy Identified in Suicide near Taylorsville School
Salt Lake City, UT
A 14-year old boy committed suicide in front of others as school was letting out. He obtained a gun from a gun safe in his home.
He had been sent home early from school for some personal issues, got the gun, and returned to the campus.

Two Former Students in Custody in Suspected Arson of Blanding High School
Blanding, UT
A suspected arson gutted the media center of San Juan High School early Saturday morning, causing extensive damage.
Two Blanding men have been arrested in connection with the suspected arson and a rash of recent burglaries at the high school and nearby middle school. The suspects were identified as Deven W. White, 19, and Christopher Stolzer, 22, according to the San Juan County Sheriff's Office. Both are former students of San Juan High School, although deputies said the motive for the alleged offenses has not been established.

Cheerleaders Suspended for Hazing Incident at Utah High School

Authorities are investigating a hazing incident involving a Utah high school that included senior cheerleaders soaking incoming squad members with condiments and forcing them to strip to their underwear.
Ogden School District spokeswoman Donna Corby said the nine cheerleaders from Ogden High School have been suspended.
Corby said the girls joining the squad next year were taken to a park May 4, supposedly to celebrate earning a spot as a cheerleader. Instead, they were blindfolded and told to do push-ups and sit-ups.
