Lincoln police are investigating two possible child abduction attempts near Washington-Monroe School.
According to Lincoln Police Det. Paul Adams, officers were dispatched
to the 1200 block of Pekin Street on Thursday to investigate the report
of a child abduction attempt.
The potential victim told officers that a male subject in his 60s or
70s attempted to lure the child into his vehicle on two separate
occasions near Washington-Monroe School.
Adams said video surveillance video from a nearby location captured a
similar vehicle in the area at the approximate time of the reported
incident.
Amherst, OH
An 11-year-old girl said a man tried to abduct her as she was walking
home from Amherst Middle School (Nord School) approximately 3:10 p.m.
The girl was walking south on Lincoln Street when a full-size blue van
with an older white male driver pulled up and the driver told her to get
in the van, according to Amherst police.
The girl ran back to the school and reported the incident.
Officers
searched for the van, but were unable to locate it.
Monticello, IL
Monticello Police Chief Michael Galloway said three 12-year-old girls
were approached by an older pickup truck with a red topper.
