Graham Suspends High School Teacher

St. Paris, OH
Graham High School teacher Chantelle Rose has been suspended without pay or other fringe benefits pending a termination procedure. The unanimous decision was made after a lengthy executive session during a special meeting of the Graham Local School District Board of Education on Thursday evening.

Citing Ohio Revised Code 3319.16, the board-approved resolution states the action is for good and just cause. The resolution further states "the conduct of (Chantelle) Rose constitutes grounds for termination of her continuing contract" under the same code.

Rose was arrested for domestic violence on June 3 for allegedly hitting a man with her hands and biting him on his chest "after an argument over the victim 'catering' to his children," according to a sheriff's report.

Champaign County Municipal Court Prosecutor Gil Weithman said the charge was dismissed after Rose completed an evaluation process for domestic violence and because the alleged victim was not the complainant in the case.

Prior to the domestic violence charge, Rose was in the middle of a Champaign County Sheriff's investigation and multiple infractions of school board policies.
