Mount Vernon School Boosts Security after 25 Pupils Witness Shooting

More than 25 elementary school children witnessed the most recent act of violence in Mount Vernon on Wednesday when a gunman opened fire on a group of men standing on a street corner, wounding one of them.

Graham Elementary School PTA President Jessica DeSoto said Thursday that the children were playing on the playground across the street from where the shooting took place.

“The children just started running,” DeSoto said.

None of the children were hurt.
