United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian and Clifford C. Holly,
Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Albany
Division, announced that Leonard M. Gaines, age 55, of Albany, New York,
pled guilty today in United States District Court in Albany before
District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino to one count of distributing child
pornography.
Pursuant to a written plea agreement, Gaines admitted that on
December 19, 2011, while using a file sharing program, he distributed,
via the Internet, multiple still images containing child pornography.
Gaines also admitted that following the March 2, 2012 execution of a
federal search warrant at his Albany residence, investigators recovered
additional electronic still images and videos of child pornography.
Camden, NJ
A Passaic County, New Jersey man was sentenced today to 51 months in
prison for downloading images of young children engaged in sexual
activity and posed in a sexually explicit manner, U.S. Attorney Paul J.
Fishman announced.
Gilbert Seidel, 48, of Hawthorne, previously pleaded guilty before
U.S. District Judge Joseph E. Irenas to an information charging him with
one count of possession of child pornography. Judge Irenas imposed
sentence today in Camden federal court.
Seidel admitted to possessing videos of child pornography that he had
downloaded from the Internet, acknowledging he had videos he knew
depicted prepubescent minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The
files were downloaded using a peer-to-peer file sharing program. A
search of Seidel’s residence by law enforcement uncovered hundreds of
child pornography files, including videos of a young girl and a toddler
being sexually assaulted. As part of his guilty plea, Seidel agreed to
forfeit the computers and computer accessories he used to commit the
offense.
Alexandria, VI
Two men associated with the Underground Gangster Crips (UGC) set
based in Fairfax County, Virginia, have pled guilty to participating in a
prostitution business that recruited and trafficked high school girls.
Today, Donyel Pier Dove, aka “Bleek,” 27, of Alexandria, Virginia,
pled guilty to sex trafficking of a juvenile, which carries a mandatory
minimum penalty of 10 years and a maximum penalty of life in prison. He
also pled guilty to use of a firearm during a crime of violence in
relation to two armed robberies of 7-Eleven stores in Manassas, Virginia
in March 2012 and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in
Fairfax, Virginia, which also occurred in March 2012. Dove faces a
mandatory minimum penalty of five years and a maximum of life on the use
of a firearm charge and a maximum of 10 years in prison on the
possession of a firearm charge. He is scheduled to be sentenced on
August 10, 2012 by United States District Judge Anthony J. Trenga.
