Pasadena, TX
Authorities say a 14-year-old student at a Houston-area school is in critical condition after a police officer investigating a classroom break-in shot him.
Pasadena Independent School District Superintendent Kirk Lewis says the shooting happened shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Intermediate School.
Lewis says the officer was investigating a broken window in a portable classroom
containing computers after an alarm went off. He confronted the boy,
who was carrying a backpack, but the boy refused to stop. Lewis says the
officer felt threatened and opened fire.
