Crimes against Children 8-2-12

Cincinnati, OH
FitzpatrickA man who pleaded guilty to two counts of distributing child pornography has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Timothy M. Fitzpatrick, 37, of Cincinnati, was sentenced in U.S. District Court Wednesday after he sent pornographic images of children to an undercover officer last year. After his sentence, Fitzpatrick will be under court supervision for the rest of his life.

The undercover officer responded to a Craigslist advertisement in November seeking young boys who were "into taboo or whatever.” The officer posed as a foster parent to two boys and arranged to meet Fitzpatrick, who sent some pornographic images to the officer.

Officers later met with Fitzpatrick, identified themselves and obtained a search warrant for his house. Forensic analysis of computer storage media in the home showed children under the age of 12 “being subjected to violence or sadistic activities,” according to a release from the Greater Cincinnati Internet Crimes Against Children task force.
The Greater Cincinnati Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force aims to crack down on local child pornography to keep children safe while using the Internet.
The task force, consisting of 11 federal, regional and local agencies, convened Wednesday to review recent child pornography cases in the Cincinnati area.

Task force members say the crackdown is necessary because child pornography can now occur inside and while caretakers are home.

Rochester, NY
A Rochester man has been charged with possession of child pornography.

Paul Hearty, 36, was arrested and charged by criminal complaint, U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced Tuesday.

In 2005, Hearty was convicted in Monroe County of the possession of an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 16 years old and was required to register as a sex offender.

According to the criminal complaint, state police received information from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that an AOL user was sending child pornography to an account used by a particular Internet Protocol (IP) address.

The former principal of a Henderson County charter school pleaded guilty today to a federal child pornography charge.

Chad HambyChadwick Jerry Hamby, 41, was ordered held without bond pending further action by the court.
Judge Max Cogburn Jr. told Hamby at the hearing in U.S. District Court in Asheville that he faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

St. Louis, MO
A retired teacher who told police he sexually assaulted two former students decades ago thought the statute of limitations had run out, but found out he was wrong -- and found himself behind bars.

Donald Ingerson, 67, who taught in the St. Louis area from the 1960s through the 1990s before moving to Minnesota, first called St. Louis police in early June to tell them he had raped two girls -- one in the 1970s and the other in the 1990s, authorities said. He met with them on Monday and spelled out his crimes, according to authorities.

Ingerson, who has been charged with rape and statutory sodomy, remains jailed on $300,000 cash bond after being arrested and charged Monday. He doesn't have an attorney, and McCulloch said the suspect seemed surprised to learn the statute of limitations had not expired in at least one of the cases. McCulloch also told reporters that he believes there could be other victims.

Lincoln, NE
A 26-year-old man has been given two years in federal prison for possessing child pornography.
Prosecutors say Bryan Christensen, formerly of Omaha and Lincoln, was sentenced earlier this week. Christensen must serve five years of supervised release when he leaves prison and must register as a sex offender.

Prosecutors say investigators tracked child pornography to a computer used by Christensen. The images were available for distribution over a peer-to-peer network.

Henrico, VA
A suburban Richmond youth figure skating coach will spend three and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography.

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli says 47-year-old David Keith Loncar was sentenced Wednesday to 145 years in prison, with 141 ½ years suspended.

Loncar admitted to offering to send child pornography videos to an undercover police officer through a peer-to-peer file sharing network. A search of his home computer found more than 75 child pornography videos.
