The Brownsburg Community School Corporation held a press conference Thursday following a hack of the school system's website.
Officials announced they traced the source of the hack to a person in Iraq who is known for spreading propaganda. They said this individual has never followed up on any threats, though.
Wednesday, someone claiming to represent the group IRAQI-TOP hacked into the school's system and replaced the web page with graphics of Arabic writing and threatening text.
School officials said the corporation was not specifically targeted and categorized the incident as a "random breach."
An on-duty shift supervisor alerted school officials following the breach. The Brownsburg Police Department then got involved, contacting the FBI.
Brownsburg Police are classifying the incident as computer tampering. They do not believe the threats were credible. They also said no personal information was jeopardized.
