Student Injured in Stabbing at Brampton High School

Toronto, Canada
It didn’t take long for the first violence of the new school year to appear.

It was just before lunchtime on opening day, Tuesday, when Peel Region police began looking for a teenager suspected of stabbing a fellow student in the schoolyard of a Brampton high school.

Police said the victim, a male student at Cardinal Leger Catholic Secondary School, was taken to a hospital shortly after 11 a.m., with wounds said to be non-life-threatening.

Students leaving the school Tuesday said the young man had been stabbed in the face.

Schools in the immediate area were placed under a hold-and-secure order while officers, backed up by K9 and tactical units, scoured the area. The order was lifted at 12:30 p.m., after police concluded there was no imminent threat to public safety.
