Marrero Teen Booked in Stabbing at John Ehret High School

A 17-year-old John Ehret High School student was booked after stabbing another student with scissors on campus Monday morning, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office has announced. Ayesha Majeer, of 6433 Rue Louis Phillipe, Marrero, was booked with one count each of aggravated battery and illegal carrying of a concealed weapon.

The injured 15-year-old student was reported in stable condition at Interim LSU Public Hospital with with non-life threatening injuries.

A teacher reported the incident around 7:15 a.m. to Detective Brian Johnson, who is assigned to the campus at 4300 Patriot Ave. The teacher said a student was stabbed in a fight outside the school cafeteria.

Johnson's investigation revealed the altercation stemmed from an ongoing problem between Majeer and the unidentified student over a friend. Majeer allegedly told Johnson the victim approached her and began arguing with her. Majeer allegedly admitted after she was confronted, she took scissors from her book bag and stabbed the victim several times.

Threat of Violence at Covington High School Prompts Extra Security

A call to a Crimestoppers hotline threatening violence at Covington High School on Friday morning forced St. Tammany Parish school system administrators to have extra security on hand from the Covington Police Department. Officials from the district say that students are safe, but they are giving parents the option to pick up their children from school if they choose.

As the Covington Police Department covers the front door of Covington High School, parents check their children out of school early Friday morning after some unsettling rumors about fights August 17, 2012.

 

According to Meredith Mendez, spokeswoman for the school system, "We made sure the school was safe and secure first thing this morning." She added that contrary to rumors, "there have been no riots or violence of any kind at Covington High School."

 

The threat comes one day after one Covington High student "received serious injuries" after a fight with another student, who was charged with attempted second-degree murder and is being held at the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center, Covington Police said.

Louisiana High School Student Arrested For Terrorizing

A 17-year-old student at Parkway High School has been arrested after school officials found a posting on Facebook describing violent threats to the high school.
Nolan Asszony, 17, of the 2000 block of Ray Avenue in Bossier City, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of terrorizing after posting a detailed sketch and information of planned acts of violence at the school that would take place at Parkway High School at a later date, a release from the Bossier sheriff’s office says.
Asszony told deputies he made the posting to Facebook around 4 p.m. Tuesday “so people could see how he draws and what he’s into,” the release said. Deputies say the posting went into great detail on how Asszony would carry out his plan of violence.

Second Teen Sought In 13-Year-Old's Shooting

A 17-year-old boy is being sought in connection with a shooting that injured a 13-year-old boy as he got off a school bus on Wednesday. 


Lewis and Brooks are accused of opening fire around 4:40 p.m. near the corner of Eagle and Forshey streets. One of the bullets went through the boy’s back, police said, and exited through his chest. The wound caused one of the teen’s lungs to collapse.

Quentin Kittel, 22, a resident of Slidell, Louisiana, pleaded guilty today as charged before United States District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo to crimes involving the sexual exploitation of children, announced United States Attorney Jim Letten. Specifically, Kittel pleaded guilty to two-counts of receiving images depicting the sexual exploitation and victimization of children.
