On July 18, 2012, the Philadelphia Police Department announced they are searching for a suspect who attempted to abduct a 10-year-old girl on Tuesday. The crime was caught on tape and surveillance footage captured a good picture of the suspect’s vehicle, however, a clear shot of the license plate was not available.
According to the Philadelphia Police and evidence obtained through the surveillance video, the suspect followed behind the 10-year-old girl who was walking near Porter and Lee Streets with her two-year-old brother. The man is seen approaching the girl and covering her mouth with his hand, before lifting the girl in the air. The girl struggled and the suspect lost his grip, causing the girl to fall to the ground. The suspect tried to regain his grip on the girl but finally gave up, returned to his car, and sped off. The incident occurred at 3:50 pm, July 17, 2012.
