Waukee police have released additional details on the attempted abduction of a Waukee girl this morning.
On Thursday morning at about 9:08 a.m., according to a news release, Waukee Police
received a report from a fifth-grade girl that she was waiting for her
bus in the 3300 block of Ashworth Road when a van pulled up next to her
at the stop.
The driver reportedly got out of a "deep purple-colored van with
three black stripes on the side and tinted windows" and told the girl
to get into the vehicle. The victim ran toward her home and the van left
in an unknown direction.
Garner, NC
An ice cream truck driver is facing rape charges following a reported abduction Thursday night.
Garner police said 39-year-old Omar Kareem Sellers was
selling ice cream around 9 p.m. near the Avery Square Apartments when he
started talking to a group of kids, including a 14-year-old girl.
Witnesses
told police that the girl voluntarily got into Seller's white
conversion van ice cream truck with colorful polka dots on it and left
the area.
The
victim told ABC11 her and Sellers drove through a few neighborhoods,
then ended up at a self-service car wash in Johnston County. She said
Sellers pulled into a bay and raped her.
Azuza, CA
Sheriff's deputies detained three suspects Friday, linking them to the
attempted kidnapping Thursday of a 14-year-old girl as she walked down
an Azusa street.
A man -- who has not yet been identified --
pulled up to the girl about 1 p.m. Thursday as she walked on Orange
Crest Avenue and tried to pull her into the white Nissan pickup he
drove, according to a news release issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
La Mesa, CA
La Mesa Police are on the lookout for a white or Hispanic male, in
his 30s-40s, who is suspected of trying to lure a 16-year-old girl into
his car as she was walking to Helix Charter High School Friday morning.
According to police, as the teen was walking westbound in the 7500
block of of University Avenue, she was approached by the suspect. The
suspect drove up next to the female and got out of his vehicle. The
suspect said to the female, “Hey, get in my car.”
At that point the female ran home and contacted the police. A search
of the surrounding areas did not result in locating the suspect or his
vehicle, which the teen described as as a “beat up” white, small or
medium sized pick up truck. The suspect was described as unshaven and
wearing a white T-shirt.
New school executive director Mike Lewis
said that he was notified by the school's safety officer and by campus
supervision. He has instructed staff to remind students of safety tips
when travelling to and from campus.
The school also posted notification of the incident on its website.
Springfield, MO
The Taney County sheriff is asking for help in locating a van that may have been involved into attempted child abductions.
Sheriff Jimmie Russell tells KTTS News a blue mini van being driven
by a man pulled into a driveway on Norman Road near Kirbyville. A female
passenger asked two girls about a lost dog. The girls ran to a house
and the van drove away.
A van matching the same description later showed up on Hulls Ford
Road near Taneyville. The female driver asked a grade school aged boy
about a lost dog and then repeatedly offered him a ride home. When the
boy began walking in a different direction, the van left.
Columbia, IL
Police are looking for a man suspected in an attempted abduction.
Police Chief Joe Edwards with the Columbia Police Department says
they received a call at 8:12 p.m. for a report of an attempted
abduction.
When police responded, they determined an 11-year-old boy had been
walking in the 100 block of Locust, just off Main Street in Columbia,
Illinois, when he saw a maroon van parked on the street.
A man inside the van struck up a conversation with the boy, who said the man began speaking very quietly.
The boy walked around to the driver's side of the van to try to hear
what the man was saying, and at that time the man grabbed the boy's arm
and tried to pull him into the van.
