Bowie High School 'Soft Lockdown' Raises Alarms
Wichita Falls, TX
An intoxicated man with a backpack asked for directions to the local high school. A "soft lockdown" was called for Bowie High School, a preventative lockdown in Safe Havens parlance. Exterior doors are secured, and there is a heightened awareness by staff. This type of lockdown allows classes to continue.
The man was apprehended, had no weapons of any type, and was charged with public intoxication. While arrested at an entrance, he had never set foot on school property. Social media rumors caused unrest with parents, leading them to find fault with the school's actions.
