As rumors swirled about a violent confrontation today at Flagler Palm Coast High, school officials beefed up security
and sent phone calls to parents in hopes of quelling the fears they
believe originated with a few students -- who just wanted a day off.
There's apparently "no validity" to chatter that someone affiliated with a gang will cause harm at the school, Director of Student Services Katrina Townsend said Thursday. Instead, she said, it appears a handful of students concocted the tale because they wanted to get out of class.
