Sex assault reported at high school

Indianapolis, IN

A male student at Franklin Central High School allegedly exposed himself to a female student, and attempted to get her to perform a sex act on him.

The girl was left alone in a classroom, a violation of school policy, and the boy came in because he knew she was there.  He exposed himself, then attempted to pull her head to his groin.

The boy has been taken into custody, and the school is investigating, in cooperation with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Beville Middle School Assistant Charged with Assault

A classroom assistant in a special needs classroom was arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery.

The school received a tip that the assistant had assaulted a 12- and a 13-year old in the classroom, causing minor injuries.  The school followed their protocols and notified Child Protective Services.

Upon hearing the first shots fired, music teacher Maryrose Kristopik got her class into a closet and locked the door.

The gunman Adam Lanza banged on the door of her locked classroom shouting "Let me in, let me in!".

Police: Man Fondled Student during Class

19-year old Benjamin S. Haile was arrested on charges of fondling a 7-year old student at school.

Haile was serving as a tutor at the Pinnacle School in Bloomington.  The incident occurred during a movie being shown in class.

North Dakota Freshman Makes Apology, Shoots Self in Front of Class

A North Dakota freshman walked in front of his class, made an apology and then shot himself with a handgun Thursday morning, Richland County authorities said.

The injured boy was coherent when he was taken to a hospital, said Principal Jay Townsend of Fairmount Public School, which has 112 students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Authorities don't know what the apology was about, Sheriff Larry Leshovsky said.

The student wasn't in any kind of trouble that the principal was aware of.

The freshman, whose name wasn't being released, has lived in the small, rural community of 380 residents his entire life and has spent all educational years at Fairmount School, Mayor Jon Nelk said.
