Fatality identified in Sparks City school shooting

Sparks City, Nevada

The fatality from today's shooting in Sparks Middle School has been identified.  Michael Landsberry, a math teacher at the middle school, was in the Nevada National Guard, and was also a former Marine.

Witnesses say that when a shot rang out, Mr. Landsberry came to investigate.  The student shooter pointed a gun at him, and Mr. Landsberry told him to put it down, whereupon he was shot and killed.  The shooter subsequently shot and wounded two other students.

Mr. Landsberry is survived by his wife, two step-daughters, and a legacy of giving his life as a shield for others.

Man Killed in Rear-End Crash With School Bus

Kankakee County, IL
A school bus was stopped in Kankakee County to pick up a Herscher High School student when a car rear-ended the bus, killing the driver.

There were five children on the bus.  Four were taken to the hospital, none with life-threatening injuries.

The wreck happened on a stretch of highway known for speeders.

One Dead after Crashing Car into Griffin Middle School

Tallahassee, FL
A car crashed into Griffin Middle School in Tallahassee.  The crash occurred after school.  There were students in the building at the time, but they were in another part of the school.  The driver was killed.
