Sparks City, Nevada
The fatality from today's shooting in Sparks Middle School has been identified. Michael Landsberry, a math teacher at the middle school, was in the Nevada National Guard, and was also a former Marine.
Witnesses say that when a shot rang out, Mr. Landsberry came to investigate. The student shooter pointed a gun at him, and Mr. Landsberry told him to put it down, whereupon he was shot and killed. The shooter subsequently shot and wounded two other students.
Mr. Landsberry is survived by his wife, two step-daughters, and a legacy of giving his life as a shield for others.

2 Dead, 2 critically injured in middle school shooting
Sparks City, Nevada
An assailant brought a gun onto the campus of Sparks Middle School in Sparks City, Nevada, and opened fire.
After killing one student and critically wounding two others, the gunman allegedly turned the gun on himself.
Information is still sketchy. Nearby Agnes Risley Elementary School went to lockdown, and was evacuated, along with Sparks Middle School, to be reunited with their families at Sparks High School.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families and students of Sparks City.

Details from Sandy Hook released
Newtown Shooting
A Connecticut newspaper released some details of the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary last December. The details included some of the actions by the shooter prior to the attack, and how the shooter entered the school.
Note that the Connecticut State Police have not yet released the official report, so anything else should be treated as speculation.

Dylan Klebold’s Mother: During Columbine Shooting I Prayed He Would Kill Himself

Dylan Klebold’s mother said that when she learned her son was likely the shooter in the ongoing shooting at Columbine High School, she had one overriding thought — a wish that her son would kill himself.
In an interview with Parenting, Dylan Klebold’s mother, Sue Klebold, claims that on the day of the massacre, April 20, 1999, she prayed her son would end the massacre.
“I had a sudden vision of what he might be doing,” Sue Klebold said. “And so while every other mother in Littleton was praying that her child was safe, I had to pray that mine would die before he hurt anyone else.”
The revelation about Dylan Klebold’s mother came as part of a new book from author Andrew Solomon, Far From the Tree. Solomon explores how blame was placed on a number of factors after the Columbine massacre and that Sue Klebold held guilt for what happened.
