Two Elementary Boys Will Stand Trial For Murder Conspiracy
Ft. Colville, WA
Two students, ten and an eleven year old, at Fort Colville Elementary were arrested after they brought a .45cal handgun with a full clip onto a school bus. Their intent was to use the handgun to keep anyone from interfering with their plan to rape and stab to death a female classmate.
They had written out a step-by-step plan. She was selected as the target because "she's rude and always made fun of me and my friends."
The eleven-year old told the police, "I was going to kill her with the knife and [10-year-old] was supposed to use the gun to keep anyone from trying to stop me or mess up our plan."
The prosecutor determined that the rape was not intended as a display of sexual desire, but as a means of displaying power.
A judge ruled that both boys were emotionally mature to understand what they were doing, and the case is proceeding to trial.

North Salem High School Student Arrested for Pointing Gun at Classmate
Salem, OR
A North Salem High School (Salem, Oregon) student was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly pulling out a handgun during class and pointing it at another student.

North Dakota Freshman Makes Apology, Shoots Self in Front of Class
Fairmont, ND
A North Dakota freshman walked in front of his class, made an apology and then shot himself with a handgun Thursday morning, Richland County authorities said.
The injured boy was coherent when he was taken to a hospital, said Principal Jay Townsend of Fairmount Public School, which has 112 students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Authorities don't know what the apology was about, Sheriff Larry Leshovsky said.
The student wasn't in any kind of trouble that the principal was aware of.
The freshman, whose name wasn't being released, has lived in the small, rural community of 380 residents his entire life and has spent all educational years at Fairmount School, Mayor Jon Nelk said.

Stillwater, OK
Students, parents, staff, and concerned citizens are mourning the loss of Cade Poulos after he died in a junior high school hallway Wednesday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Poulos, a 13-year-old Stillwater Junior High School student, shot himself in the head with a handgun before classes started Wednesday morning.
Students sprinted for the doors and the school building was quickly locked down and the school's eighth- and ninth-graders were evacuated.
Students at an adjacent elementary school were also evacuated.
At the time of the first and only gunshot, students were gathered throughout the school prior to the start of classes. There were dozens of kids near Poulos, who authorities say didn't leave a suicide note, when he shot himself.

Weaver Middle School Student Charged with Bringing Handgun to School
Bibb County, GA
Bibb County campus police found a small-caliber handgun in a 14-year-old male student’s shoe at Weaver Middle School on Wednesday afternoon, the latest in a string of incidents this week involving weapons or violence at Bibb schools.
Campus police officers received a tip from a student at another school that a Weaver seventh-grade student had a gun at the school, Deputy Campus Police Chief Stephanie Prater said Wednesday. Those officers conducted a search along with officers from Westside High School.
When they went to the student’s class, officers noticed one of his shoes wasn’t completely on and found the gun hidden in his shoe about 12:30 p.m. The gun was not loaded, Prater said, and the case is still under investigation.
