After drawing a picture of a ninja and a soldier at school, an 8-year old student was threatened with expulsion by the headmaster. The headmaster found the pictures to be "violent and unacceptable", as he could not guarantee the safety of the other students.
The school handbook does state that, "Drawings that depict weapons" are grounds for expulsion.
The parents have taken their child from the school.

Tucson School Locked Down after Violence Threat
Tucson, AZ
A Tucson school was placed on lockdown for five hours after an anonymous threatening note was found in the nurse’s office Friday, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
The principal of Flowing Wells Junior High School told police he found a the note, which implied the use of guns and other weapons in the school, around 9:30 a.m.
The school, located near Wetmore Road and La Cholla Boulevard, was immediately placed on lockdown and the Sheriff’s Department was called in to investigate, said Clarence Dupnik, a spokesman for the department.
Dupnik said the lockdown was kept in effect during the investigation in order to ensure a methodical and orderly threat assessment.
The Pima Regional Bomb Squad brought a specialty canine to the scene to detect explosives or guns, and the Department of Public Safety and the Davis-Monthan Airforce Base provided an additional two canines to join in the search, Dupnik said.

Child Abduction Digest 8-11-12
Phoenix, AR
Phoenix police said they arrested a man suspected of attacking and trying to abduct a 15-year-old girl early Wednesday morning.
Robert Lawrence Allaire, 23, was arrested Thursday after he was seen leaving a home in the area of West South Mountain and South Seventh avenues in Phoenix, near the area where the girl said the attempted abduction took place, according to Officer James Holmes of the Phoenix Police Department.
The teen was walking along West Winston Drive
about 6:15 a.m. when Allaire allegedly jumped from an alleyway, grabbed
her from behind and tried to pull her into the alley, Holmes said.
The victim was able to break free and strike her abductor in the face. She escaped, but lost her eyeglasses in the process, Holmes said.
The girl reported what happened to her mother, who called police.

Experts Say Abduction from the Home is Relatively Rare

Each year, 58,000 children are abducted by strangers and released, according to the most recent statistics. Of those, 115 were "stereotypical" kidnappings carried out by strangers who either killed the children or held them for ransom. And 16 percent of those were taken from home.
Nearly three quarters of the victims are girls, and 38 percent of them are 12 to 14. At 24 percent, the second largest victimized group is the one Isabel belongs to: girls ages 6 to 11.

School Bus Involved in Accident

Authorities say five people, children and adults, were taken to a Phoenix-area hospital after a chain-reaction accident involving a loaded school bus whose brakes apparently failed.
Three students were transported for minor injuries.
Regular maintenance is performed on U.S. school buses, but things like this still happen.
